200 Alabama Bicentennial

Celebrating Alabama’s 200th birthday2017 2018 2019

On August 3, 2018, Governor Kay Ivey announced the 200 Alabama Bicentennial Schools. Each school received a $2,000 grant to support a year-long project designed to strengthen connections between campuses and their communities.

Honorable mentions were awarded to an additional group of schools which also submitted strong project proposals. The list of honorable mention schools receiving $500 grants can be found here.

On August 1, 2019, the 200 schools will submit final reports on their community service projects, including detailed documentation, using the link below. An instructional guide on how to upload and format reports can be found here. Schools can also download a final report toolkit, complete with a checklist, rubric, and contact information. Based on the final project reports, three schools per Congressional district will be designated Alabama Bicentennial Schools of Excellence. These 21 schools will participate in commemoration ceremonies in Montgomery on December 14, 2019, the culmination of Alabama’s bicentennial.
